About John Shaffer
I was born in Corona, California in the mid 1950s. My father was a Marine Corp. aviator, so I lived in many different locations in the USA during my childhood, including Maryland, Colorado, Virginia, and North Carolina. My family eventually settled in Southern California. I studied art at Cal State Fullerton and continued my art education by taking college level classes in various graphics disciplines, including drawing, painting, cartooning, typography, 2D design, and graphic design. I worked as a senior graphic designer and art director for the mega-church Calvary Chapel, Costa Mesa, CA under the late Chuck Smith for nearly 40 years. It was during this time I learned computer graphics, expanding my ability to work in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. Currently, I am semi-retired living near my oldest son and grandchildren in the State of Tennessee. I currently work part-time as a freelance graphic designer as well as selling my artwork online. I have been married for 37 years and have 5 children, many of them talented artists themselves. I have been artistic since I was a small child and have always kept drawing and painting as a hobby throughout the years. I have an interest in painting or drawing interesting people, vintage cars, still life subjects, humorous cartoons or anything else that catches my fancy. Hope you enjoy!
